Nail polish has become a huge trend over the last couple of years. The matte finish gives a sleek look to nails without having to spend hours painting them. Whether you want to add some color or simply change the texture, matte nail polish is a great way to go.

This tutorial shows you how to create your own matte nail paint using only three simple ingredients. All you need is a bottle of white nail polish, a bottle of clear nail polish and a toothbrush.

Everyone likes the glossy nail polish finished, but just lately, the matte finish has become a popular trend. Not everyone can get their hands on a matte polish, but I can show you how to create your own Matte Polish with one straightforward method I use. The best part about this method is that you can change any gloss colour finish into a matte finish. It is so easy so let’s get started.

Tools Needed:

  1. Cornflour/Cornstarch
  2. Clear Top Coat (spare one just for Matte Finishes)

Application:

Okay, so you have already painted your nails your favourite colour and are ready to apply a Matte Top Coat, but you only have a Glossy Top Coat. Well, not to worry, all you have to do is put some cornstarch/cornflower on a sheet of paper and dab some of the purposely kept Glossy Top Coat onto the paper as well, see below:

Clear Top Coat and Cornflour/Cornstarch.

Now mix some of your top coat and the cornflour/cornstarch into a cloudy white paste, as shown below:

Mix into a Cloudy White Paste.

Once the powder is mixed in, apply to the nail; it will go on cloudy until dry, and once the coat is completely dry, you will notice that it looks like you have applied a Matte Finish Coat, and it won’t have that glossy finish.

Gloss and Matte finish.

This method can be used for any colour. That’s why I like it so much, and I have a spare Clear Top Coat on hand for the sole purpose of making my Matte Finish. Next time you paint your nails, give the Matte Finish a go and see how easy it will work for you.
